In 1982, Susan G. Komen for the
Cure began with $200 and a shoebox full of names.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is an international
organization with a network of more than 100,000 survivors and activists
working through local Susan G. Komen for the Cure Affiliates and events
like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® to create a world without
breast cancer.
Komen
for the Cure volunteers are our ambassadors to the world who carry the
powerful message of Komen and its work into their communities. Through
careful development, a volunteer has the potential to be a tremendous
representative of the organization.

Volunteer opportunities are unique within each Komen Affiliate,

• Survivor Programs
What would we do
without our Volunteers?
There is a very simple answer to that question: We could not exist!
Your support as a Komen Shreveport-Bossier Volunteer is essential if we
are to continue our work to fulfill our promise: to save lives and end
breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality of care for
all and energizing science to find the cures.
If you have a couple of hours a year, a couple
of hours a month, or a couple of hours a week, we have a place for you.
As an Affiliate volunteer, you can assist in our office or in the
outreach program throughout our 10 parish community.
Our Race Volunteers concentrate their efforts on
planning and staging
our yearly Komen Shreveport-Bossier Race for the Cure®
which is held in September, but there are other
volunteer opportunities available.

At the Shreveport-Bossier Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure,
volunteers working thousands of hours each year enable us to keep
operating expenses low, allowing us to realize our vision: a world
without breast cancer. In addition to the many volunteers who give their
time each year to Komen Shreveport-Bossier Race for the Cure®, we are led
by a volunteer Board of Directors and are fortunate to have committed
volunteers assisting us in the office and at all of our special events
and programs.
The success of the Shreveport-Bossier Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the
Cure is dependent upon people who are committed to making a difference to
end breast cancer forever. We welcome enthusiastic volunteers. They are
the heart and soul of Komen and clearly our most valuable asset. If you
have time to contribute, we can use your help.
